There are some commonly used word press template files:

1. Header file

Header.php is being used as a header file to display header and navigation. If there is any need for change in a header, then this file needs to be modified. This file can be edited by going to appearance –> editor under the word press admin panel section.

2. Home

The PHP template file can be used to display the blog spot index, and it can be set to display on the front page website, and if any change requires on a home page, you need to edit the home.php file under the same path as above.

3. Index

It is being used for the blog spot index, which displays the most recent blog spots according to some predefined conditions.

4. Page

PHP file used to display the title and its content. This edit of content can be done for the logged-in user. It also displays the comment form and list.

5. Front-page

The front-page.php template file displays the content of the first page. WordPress searches for this file very first whenever there is a load of the front page is requested on the word press website.

6. Single

PHP template file shows the information regarding the title of the blog or the post, content of the blog or post, writer name, posted date, category, and tags for the blogs and posts, comment lists and comment forms, links for navigation, and options to view other posts.

7. Search

PHP template file controls how the search result should be displayed and it cannot display the list of posts in full-length form. This can be customized as well.

8. Style

CSS is the main file for the word press theme to control the design and layout of websites or web page.

9. Functions

The PHP file is used to add custom features, some of the themes use this file not all. It provides custom features to sites.
