Introduction to PowerPoint Shortcut Keys

The following article provides an outline for PowerPoint Shortcut Keys. PowerPoint is a presentation software used by many users to create the presentation. It is available in 102 languages. It is a part of the Microsoft office suite. It is available in both versions, desktop version and web version. A web version is a slightly light weight than a desktop version. To perform various actions in PowerPoint, there are some shortcuts keys which ease the work of users.

  • Ctrl + A: It is used to select all the content of the slide.
  • Ctrl + C: It is used to copy the selected content.
  • Ctrl + V: It is used to paste the copied text.
  • Ctrl + X: It is used to cut the selected text.
  • Ctrl + Z: It is used to undo the previous actions.
  • Ctrl + Y: It is used to redo the previous actions.
  • E: It is used to erase all pen tool and highlighted tool marks.
  • Slide number + Enter: It is used to jump to slide from one to another; for example, you want to move from slide 1 to slide 8: press 8, and then Enter.
  • ESC: It is used to exit from the current slide and move back to the active view.
  • Ctrl + B: It is used to create or remove the bold.
  • Ctrl + F: It is used to open the find window to enable a user to find the desired text.
  • Ctrl + E: It is used to set the alignment of the text to the center of the slide.
  • Ctrl + L: It is used to set the alignment to the left.
  • Ctrl + R: It is used to set align to the right.
  • Ctrl + H: It is used to hide the tools.
  • Ctrl + D: It is used to create a duplicate slide of the selected one.
  • Ctrl + K: It is used to add the hyperlink.
  • Ctrl + I: In normal view, it is used to create a text in italic form. In the slideshow view, it is used to change the normal cursor to a highlighter tool.
  • Ctrl + M: It is used to insert the new slideshow.
  • Ctrl + N: It is used to create a new blank slide deck in another powerpoint program.
  • Ctrl + O: It is used to open the file.
  • Ctrl + P: In normal view, it is used to print the slide. In the slideshow view, it is used to change the normal cursor to the pen tool.
  • Ctrl + U: It is used to apply or remove the underline.
  • Ctrl + S: It is used to save the file.
  • Ctrl + T: It is used to open the font window to adjust the font style, size, color, etc.
  • Ctrl + W: It is used to close the current slideshow.
  • Ctrl + =: It is used to apply or remove the subscript.
  • Ctrl + Home: It is used to move the cursor at the start of the slideshow.
  • Ctrl + End: It is used to move the cursor at the end of the slideshow.
  • Ctrl + ]: It is used to increase the size of the text.

  • Shift + F5: It is used to view the slide show starting from the selected one.
  • Shift + Alt + D: It is used to insert the current date and time.
