Introduction to MS Access Alternative

The following article provides an outline for MS Access Alternative. MS Access is a database management system developed by Microsoft. It combines a relational Microsoft Jet database engine with a graphical user interface and software development tools. Microsoft Access stores its data in its format based on the access Jet database engine. It can also import or link directly to data stored in other applications and databases.

It allows users to create tables, forms, queries, and reports and connect them with macros. Other alternatives for Microsoft access are also available in the Market. Axisbase, Memento Database, SpeedBase, Database Oasis, MySQL, TeamDesk, OpenOffice Base, LibreOffice Base, Corel Paradox, and Workmap.ai are some of the alternatives of MS Access.

Various MS Access Alternatives

Given below are the various MS Access Alternatives:

1. Axisbase

Axisbase is the best alternative to MS access. Axisbase is a database system that tracks all the information or data a business deals with. For example, it could track the sale made on web site, perform order fulfillment from your office, maintain inventory lists, or maintain any other structured information.

2. Memento Database

Memento Database is a desktop-based database used to track and organize the database. It is designed to work with any data, making storing, organizing, calculating, and visualizing information possible. It allows the organization to build its requirements uniquely. It includes project management, production management, CRM, assets management, budget, etc. The Memento database describes data in various forms like tables, lists, sets of cards, on a map, or in the calendar. It also performs data analysis, sorting, aggregation, filtering, and grouping.

3. SpeedBase

SpeedBase is a desktop-based database system. One of the advantages of using SpeedBase is that to access the data, there is no need to login to the remote server shared among thousands of pf users or any internet connection. Data has stayed with users. So users do not have to worry about it. He/She can access the data easily. SpeedBase will not be affected by the database server’s internet connection or load level.

4. Database Oasis

Another alternative for MS Access is Database Oasis which provides database software solutions. One advantage of Oasis is that users do not worry about the coding language or technical concepts. It provides a simple point and clicks interface which allows users to tell it how they want to store their data and how it will be presented. It performs all the operations automatically.

5. MySQL

MySQL is a relational-based database management system that organizes the data into more than one table in which data types may be related. MySQL has stand-alone clients that allow users to interact directly with a MySQL database using SQL. Still, MySQL is often used with other programs to implement applications that need relational database capability. MySQL does not conform with the entire SQL standard for certain implemented features, including foreign key references, when using storage engines other than the default InnoDB.

6. TeamDesk

TeamDesk is online database software, a great alternative to MS Access. It allows users to build and customize a unique database according to their goals and perspectives. One of the advantages of using TeamDesk is that it offers unlimited data storage and unlimited database complexity without extra cost. TeamDesk store and manage the daily work information in an organized, efficient manner. It also provides various predefined functions to carry out the task easily.

7. OpenOffice Base

Another alternative for MS Access is OpenOffice base. It is a desktop-based database management system designed to meet the users’ requirements. It provides Wizard, using which users can create the database easily. Users can also create queries, reports, and forms. The open office base provides predefined table functions to track records, orders, assets, transactions, invoices, customers, etc. The base can be a front-end for several database systems, including Access databases (JET), ODBC data sources, and MySQL/PostgreSQL.

8. LibreOffice Base

Another best alternative for MS Access is LibreOffice Base. It is a database management system that allows users to create and manage the database, and based on the contents of a database, it allows users to generate forms and reports. Like MS Access, LibreOffice base creates small embedded databases and stores them with document files. It can also be used as a front-end for various database management systems such as Microsoft JET, MySQL, ODBC/JDBC data sources, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft Access.

9. Corel Paradox

Corel Paradox is a desktop-based relational database management system developed by Corel Corporation. Effective use of conventional, expanded memory, caching tables, and indexed caused Corel Paradox to execute the tasks very quickly compared to the explicit skills required for xBase performance optimization.

10. Workmap.ai

Workmap.ai allows you to simplify data collection through web forms and automated business processes with workflows and databases. It provides cloud database solutions. It provides drag and drops features to create web forms easily. It also provides built-in libraries to manage the database and tasks efficiently.

Conclusion – MS Access Alternative

Here, in this article, we have seen alternatives to MS Access such as Axisbase, Memento Database, SpeedBase, Database Oasis, MySQL, TeamDesk, OpenOffice Base, LibreOffice Base, Corel Paradox, and Workmap.ai. Each has its advantages, features, and limitations. Based on your requirements and ease, you can choose one of them.
