#1 Mahamaya Temple, Bilaspur

The Mahamaya Temple, dedicated to Goddess Mahalakshmi, is in Ratanpur of Bilaspur. It is out of the 52 Shakti Peethas all over India, making it a prominent pilgrim site for thousands of devotees worshiping here every year. People believe that Goddess Mahamaya, also known as Kosaleswari, is the goddess of the ancient Dakshin Kosal area. The temple, situated beside a huge water tank, has Nagara-style architecture. People believe that the divine spirit of Adishakti Maa Mahamaya Devi surrounds the oldest Kantideval temple.

The devotees built the Mahamaya Temple around the 12-13th century to worship Goddess Lakshmi and Saraswati. The temple has idols of all religious gods and goddesses. Tourists enjoy the beautiful area surrounded by ponds and lush greenery and experience spiritual vibes at the same time. Many things to explore at this temple include domes, palaces, and forts, part of the ancient mythological city of Ratanpur. One can use their visit since the town of Ratanpur is the most prominent pilgrim site with an end number of temples.

#2 Danteshwari Temple, Dantewada

Just like the Mahamaya Temple, Danteshwari Temple is also one of the 52 Shakti Peethas. In the 14th century, people built the Danteshwari temple in Dantewada, which is 80 km away from Jagdalpur district. The temple derives its name from the Goddess Danteshwari, who presided over the Kakatiya rulers. The temple marks the spot where the Danth or Tooth of Sati fell after the Satya Yuga built all the Shakti shrines.

The junction of the sacred rivers Shankhini and Dhankini, which have different colors, situates this holy temple in Dantewada. The 600-year-old temple is an ancient heritage site of India that presents Bastar’s religious and socio-cultural history. The vast temple complex has a rich architectural and sculptural layout and vibrant festival traditions. Every year during Dussehra, thousands of pilgrims gather to worship the goddess. Likewise, during Navratri, there is a tradition of lighting lamps. Jeans and trousers are prohibited here; men wear dhotis, and women wear suits or saris.

#3 Bhoramdeo Temple, Kawardha

Bhoramdeo Temple is a Hindu complex comprising four temples and is one of the earliest brick temples. The temple in Kawardha dedicates itself to Lord Shiva and features erotic sculptures in its architecture. One can find a distinct style similar to the Khajuraho and Konarak Sun Temple. For this reason, the Bhoramdeo temple is also known as the “Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh. People built this temple dedicated to Lord Shiva strategically between the mountain ranges during the 7th to 11th centuries in the Civilian style.

The Bhoramdeo Temple stands at a height of five feet and features a pavilion measuring 60 feet in length and 40 feet in width. There are 4 pillars in the middle and 12 on the side, having beautiful and artistic designs. The nearby tourist attractions include Mandwa Mahal, Kanha National Park, Bhoramdeo Sanctuary, and some villages to witness the rural and tribal culture. To reach the Bhoramdeo Temple, visitors can travel by air through Raipur Airport or by rail and road. Stay facility is also available at the Bhoramdeo Jungle Retreat. Moreover, tourists can also stay at other budget hotels nearby.

#4 Maa Bamleshwari Temple, Dongargarh

The Bambleshwari Temple stands on a hilltop of 1600 feet in Dongargarh, Rajnandgaon. People visit this temple in large numbers during the Navratri of Kavar and Chaitra when they light Jyoti Kalash. Bamleshwari Mata Temple is an important shrine to offer prayers per Hindu beliefs. The Bamleshwari Temple has two shrines dedicated to the goddess where. The main shrine is Badi Bamleshwari Temple constructed on a hilltop, and Choti Bambleshwari Temple on its foothills.

A lake on the downside of the hill features activities like boating and lush green gardens. There are also Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva temples enclosed in the periphery of this temple. To reach the temple, you must climb around 1100 steps or use the ropeway facility, which offers tickets ranging from Rs. 80 to Rs. 40. The hilltop will welcome you with a cool breeze once you reach there. Please note that the temple prohibits taking photographs inside. This temple is conveniently located near the Railway station.
