Introduction to Exynos 2100 vs A14 Bionic

The Exynos series of mobile processors are built by Samsung for many years now. It is mostly used in high-end Samsung smartphones. In 2021, Samsung launched Exynos 2100 as its latest mobile processor. This mobile processor is an up-gradation of the Exynos 990 which was launched last year and was seen in mobile phone likes Samsung Galaxy S20 series. On the other hand, A14 bionic is built by Apple. It is a system on chip 64-bit ARM v8.5a. It is used in iPhone 12, iPad Air, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Mini, and iPhone 12 Pro. It is said that the Apple A14 Bionic makes the central processing unit performance 40% better than A12. Moreover, the graphics processing unit performs 30% faster than A12. The A14 Bionic consists of a 16-core neural engine and machine learning matrix accelerators which makes the performance ten times faster.

Key Differences of Exynos 2100 vs A14 Bionic

Samsung’s Exynos 2100 Processor has a core that is introduced for the tasks which require higher performance ratings. The Exynos 2100 has ARM Cortex X1 as its central processing unit which has a clock speed of 2.9 Giga Hertz. On the other hand, Apple’s A14 bionic has the first 2x cores for performing high-performance tasks. The Apple Firestorm cores have a clock speed of 2.99 Gigahertz.

Samsung’s Exynos 2100 has three cores installed into it for low-performance tasks. It has an ARM Cortex A78 as its central processing unit which has a clock speed of 2.8 Giga Hertz. On the other hand, the Apple A14 Bionic chip has the first 4x cores which have been installed for performing tasks with higher efficiency. Apple’ Icestorm has this type of core installed into it. This makes the chip reach the clock speed of 1.8 Giga Hertz.

If we consider both the Exynos 2100 and Apple 14 Bionic in terms of clock speeds then Apple’s A14 with a single core would have a slight edge over Exynos 2100 with a higher clock speed. However, in terms of Multicore, Exynos 2100 has a lot to offer with a higher clock speed as compared to Apple’s A14 Bionic Chip.

If we consider the central processing unit’s fabrication process of both Exynos 2100 and A14 bionic then a 5nano meter fabrication process has been used for their building. However, Exynos 2100 uses the 5nano meter process of Samsung while Apple’s A14 Bionic uses the 5 nanometer process of TSMC.

The processor used in Samsung’s Exynos 2100 processor is an octa-core processor of 64 bit. This means that eight cores are installed under this processor for multi-tasking and task distribution. On the other hand, Apple’s A14 Bionic chip uses a Hexa Core processor of 64 bit. This means that there are six cores installed in A14 Bionic’s processor for multi-tasking and task distribution.

Conclusion

On the basis of this article, we understood the major differences between Samsung’s Exynos 2100 and Apple’s A14 Bionic system on chip (SoC). We went through their difference on the basis of architecture, performance, clock speed, graphics processing unit, central processing unit, and many more. This article would help the readers to understand the pros and cons of both these chips.
