Part 1 – IELTS Interview Questions (Basic)

This first part covers basic IELTS Interview Questions and Answers.

Q1. Where is your hometown? What different activities can you do there, and what kind of people are there?

Answer:

In this question, you can explain where you are from to answer the first part. The hometown where you belong, along with the city and country you belong to. Then you can describe all the different kinds of things that are there in your city. You can go ahead and explain the various foods and cuisines that are available. The city’s cultural diversity, along with its arts and galleries, can also be mentioned. In addition to these, you can describe the weather conditions and natural beauty as well. To answer the latter part of the question, you can inform the interviewer about the people’s friendly nature. You can also elaborate that, as in other cities, people are busy with their routines but still like chatting anytime and helping everyone around them.

Q2. What are you studying? Describe, in short, your interests.

Answer:

For this question, you can tell about your university or college where you study. You can discuss your course’s duration and how you enjoy exploring it. Further, you can explain how, by learning everything about the course, you also get to know different people studying with you. You can explain that you get to live the stories of the people looking at you and how you care about everyone around you. You can explain how much easier it is to study these days, with life’s simplicity and the internet at hand. Learning is much more fascinating with all these things together. After describing your course, you can tell them your plans and how you will accomplish them once you pass the IELTS exam.

Q3. What is your job? Do you work with other people?

Answer:

For this question, you must explain the kind of work you do. You must explain the post, roles, and responsibilities you handle. You can also explain the business you handle, along with the domain details. Once the nature of your work is precise, you can move ahead to describe the people around you. You can say you work for a big office where you all work as a team. You have helpful colleagues who help you whenever you are stuck. Additionally, you collaborate with clients based in many countries and cities.

Q4. Please explain the activities which you like to do in your free time.

Answer:

This is a basic IELTS interview question. Here you can explain the different types of activities you do in your leisure time. You can describe your activities, such as reading, watching television, playing football, and meeting friends.

Q5. Have your leisure time activities changed since your childhood?

Answer:

Once you explain your leisure time activities, you can tell the interviewer how in all these years, your interests have changed or not. If they have, you can explain how the times have changed the things you like to do and how you want to do new things. If they have not, you can say how you have cultivated the activities and love doing those activities even today, just like you used to during your childhood.

Q6. What would you prefer? Spending time alone or spending it with other people.

Answer:

To answer this question, you can tell them that sometimes you like being with friends and sometimes enjoy your own company. You can further tell them about the kind of work you do and how you want to be with people at these times and forget all the work stress. Sometimes, you also feel like spending time with yourself and introspecting on developing more in your life.

Q7. How good are you at managing time?

Answer:
You can explain how you manage your routine and live your life. You can explain how you try to manage your schedule. Be sure that you are honest in your answer and explain everything adequately. You can tell me how you go about work and decide what to tackle first. In addition, you can tell them how you manage your time with your meetings. Also, after going home, managing your time demonstrates your time-management skills.

Q8. Do you read books? What kind of books do you like to read?

Answer:

You can tell the type of books you like when talking about books. Q10 Do you like visiting art galleries?

Answer:

You can be honest about whether you like visiting galleries or not. If you like it, then explain the works you like and provide the details. If not, you can say that art is nice but not your cup of tea.
