In Haryana sits Kurukshetra, one of India’s most revered historical sites. With the Battle of Kurukshetra taking place here, Kurukshetra has a rich history. The Jyotisar, a place in Kurukshetra is where Krishna preached  Mahabharata’s Gita to Arjuna. In order to absorb all knowledge in the world, Ashoka, the Great Emperor, traveled to Kurukshetra. The Harappa culture formerly flourished in this metropolis, and the city is currently maintained in an extremely magnificent manner.

#1 Brahma Sarovar

Brahma Sarovar, the most popular tourist destination in Kurukshetra, is the largest manmade lake in Asia. According to Hinduism, Lord Brahma, who created this universe, is the inspiration for the name of this lake. According to believers, the performance of Brahma Ji’s first Yagya is exactly at this lake. Furthermore, King Kuru remodeled this area.

On the day of a solar eclipse, taking a bath in this holy lake has the same effect as conducting 100 Ashwamedha Yagyas. You’ll find the Sarveshwar Mahadev temple, a Shiva shrine, in the center of this lake.

#2 Shri Krishna Museum

It is in Thanesar City, Kurukshetra, in the Indian state of Haryana. You can visit idols and statues from the Mahabharata at the Sri Krishna Museum. This area is a devotion to the Mahabharata War and Lord Krishna’s Instructions to Arjun. This location also has historical and spiritual significance. Visitors can view idols and texts that appear to be from the “Harappan civilization.”

The miracles of Lord Shri Krishna and Bhisham Pitamah are shown in statues in a wonderful way. In addition, the preservings of the incredible history of the Mahabharata are in the Sri Krishna Museum, along with other inventions and tools utilized on a daily basis in ancient times.

#3 Bhishma Kund

In the legendary age, Bhishma Kund is also connected to the Mahabharata and is highly significant. This is the exact spot where Bhishma lied forcefully after shot on the bed of arrows laid out by Arjuna. On the arrows’ bed, he observed the conflict forcefully.

And when Bhishma became thirsty, Arjuna released an arrow to cause a water spring to appear, quenching Bhishma’s thirst. In modern times, the location is popular as Bhishma’s Kund. The Kund is a peaceful location with intricately crafted structures.

#4 Laxmi Narayan Temple

The construction of the Lakshmi Narayan Temple occurred during the reign of the Chola Dynasty, and it has a sacred shrine dedicated to Laxmi Narayan. The construction of the temple happened in the 18th century. It is popular that if a pilgrim visits the Laxmi Narayan Temple, they are exempt from traveling to the Char Dham Yatra. Anyone who visits this temple and does seven courses around it can atone for any sin and find redemption.

The interiors of the temple are in a very elegant manner while maintaining the temple’s classic architecture.

#5 Sheikh Chilli Tomb

Sheikh Chilli’s Tomb is a complex with structures present in Thanesar, Kurukshetra. It is a tribute to the great Sufi saint Aabd-ul-Razak who is popularly called Shaikh Chehli or Chilli. He is a spiritual teacher to the elder son of the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan. The Tomb is octagonal shaped when overlooked from the artificial terrace.

Later the collector of Thaneshar, John Dawkins repaired the tomb in 1854 AD.

#6 Raja Harsh ka Tila

The construction of this historic building known as Raja Harsh Ka Tila is in honor of Raja Harsh, who governed Thanesar. It spans a little over a kilometer and depicts periods from the Kushana through the Mughal eras. The only surviving specimen of Kurukshetra city’s old remains is Raja Harsh ka Tila.

#7 Kurukshetra Panorama & Science Centre

The center’s main draw is a lifelike panorama of the historic battle of Kurukshetra, which depicts the Mahabharata War and provides scientific justifications for every battle scene. There are exhibits and objects from the past, including religious, scientific, and technological items, inside the Science Center.

There are paintings depicting the conflict between the Pandavas and the Kauravas in Kurukshetra. Information regarding the weapons used by the Yodhas mentioned above is also present.

Kurukshetra is a location for the spiritual and for people who wish to learn more about history, offering the chance to recreate key moments from the Mahabharata. Haryana Tourism is doing an excellent job of maintaining this historic city.
