#1 Asvakranta Temple

Located in the Guwahati district of Assam, this temple is also known as one of the best temples in Assam. The temple is a dedication to Lord Vishnu and is an important shrine for the Supreme Lord in terms of “Yogini Tantra.” It is strongly believed that even if a person commits a crime, he can attain salvation after visiting this temple. There is also the same serpent on the recumbent idol. Along with this, one can also worship Brahma seated on a lotus which comes from the navel of Lord Vishnu. Lord Krishna stopped here with his army while fighting against Nakasura. Apart from this, the temple walls contain exciting pulses alongside natural beauty.

#2 Siva Dol Temple

One of Assam’s most renowned temples is near Sivasagar in Assam. The temple has a group of three Hindu Temples Vishnu dol, Sivadol, and Devidol. With an idol of Goddess Durga, the temple demonstrates the power of women. The temple consists of sculptures, fascinating architectural designs, and spiritual enrichment. It is the most ancient temple of Assam and yet has a lot to unfold. The celebration of Shakti Puja happens with great enthusiasm and illuminates the town and its appearance.

#3 Bageshwari Temple

This temple supports the most critical mythological story that the Devid Durga Trishul is visible here. The beauty around the temple is another added advantage for tourists to visit. Apart from the myths, there are Shiva temples in rock caves and Baba Talaknath temples, also visited by tourists. This temple is present in Bangkegaon, Assam.

#4 Lalmati Duramari Ganesh Temple

It is one of the oldest and best temples in Assam. The temple is famous for its natural beauty and historical sites. The temple offers three different vantage points, giving you a proper perspective on what lies behind the destruction. This temple is present in the Abhayapuri district of Assam.

#5 Sukreswar Temple

This temple is present in the Guwahati district of Assam. The temple gets its name as Sukreswar temple as it is on the Sukreswar hill, where the southern bank of Brahmaputra River passes through and attracts the devotees of Lord Shiva. This temple is familiar with having the giant lingam among all the temples in Assam. The myth behind the temple says that the famous sage Sukra had his ashram on the hill where the temple is present. Also, traces of Sukresvara Linga are here. The architecture of the temple still has its value since the 18th century.

#6 Kamakhya Temple

This temple is present in the Guwahati district of Assam. It is an attraction for most tourists as the temple is on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, and the temple turns red during the Hindu month of Ashad. The beauty and serenity of this temple are mesmerizing and will set an example of what Guwahati possess. The specialty of this temple is that women can visit it even when they are on with their cycle. This Assam temple is famous for enshrining the mythical womb and vagina of the Goddess Shakti.
