What is the Full Form of STD?

The full form of STD is a Sexually Transmitted Disease. STDs are infections that transfer through sexual contact. They are most commonly, but not always, transmitted through sexual contact. STDs include HIV, chlamydia, genital warts, genital herpes, hepatitis B/C, gonorrhea, syphilis, and trichomoniasis. STDs were previously known as venereal diseases or VD. These are some of the most often transmitted illnesses.

Kinds of STDs

HIV and herpes are contagious illnesses that can be controlled but not treated. Hepatitis B can also turn chronic, although it is treatable. Certain STDs may go undetected until they cause harm to your reproductive system, eyesight, heart, and other organs. An STD can weaken the immune system, making a person more susceptible to other illnesses. Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is a chlamydia and gonorrhea condition that can prevent women from having children. It has the potential even to kill a person.

What Causes Sexually Transmitted Diseases?

STDs are dangerous infections that require medical attention. Some STDs, like HIV, are incurable and can be fatal. There could be various for getting infected with STDs few are listed below:

  • Having several sexual partners.
  • Maintaining sexual relations with an individual who has had several partners.
  • Not using protection during intercourse.
  • Exchange of needles while injecting intravenous narcotics.

What is the treatment for STDs?

Most STDs are cured with proper treatment, as antibiotics can treat several STDs. There are different kinds of therapy for other STDs—antiviral medicines for HIV, vaccines for HPV, and many more.

Prevention of STDs

Prevention is the best way to escape getting infected with deadly diseases. These simple measures can avoid infection,

  • Always use protection during intercourse.
  • Avoid sexual contact with multiple partners.
  • Sharing of razors, needles, or even underclothing should be restricted.
  • Make use of the vaccination provided for Hepatitis B.
