Mathura

In Uttar Pradesh, Mathura is a city and the district’s administrative center. The Krishna Janmasthan Temple Complex is where Hinduism considers Mathura to be Krishna’s birthplace. It is also known as Mokshyadayni Tirth, one of the seven Sapta Puri, or holy Hindu cities. The Kesava Deo Temple was built on the spot where Krishna was born (in an underground prison).

The Kansa, who ruled the kingdom of Surasena, Krishna’s maternal uncle, had its capital in Mathura. It’s the circuit of Lord Krishna, which includes Vrindavan, Dwarka, Barsana, Mathura, Govardhan, Kurukshetra, and Bhalka includes Mathura. Mathura holds a grand celebration of Janmashtami each year. The Indian government’s Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana program has selected Mathura as one of its heritage cities.
