What is the Full Form of UNICEF?

The full Form of UNICEF is United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, a unique international program.

 

 

Here, the United Nations took the initiative to make a separate unique program that focuses on aiding the national efforts to improve children’s nutrition, health, and general welfare.

  • UNICEF‘s Full form is the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund.
  • It was founded in 1946.
  • UNICEF renamed itself in 1953 to support its broader vision but returned to its original name (United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund).

  • UNICEF has its headquarters in New York City. The organization got its first Nobel prize for peace in 1965.

  • UNICEF has concentrated its efforts on the development and welfare of children.
  • These expenditures are small but have a massive impact on the lives of the most disadvantaged.
  • Children’s health, education, and overall development have been considered.
  • It also includes the prevention and treatment of diseases impacting children.
  • They help to educate the families, support their younger ones, and protect them against the spread of disease.

  • UNICEF works across 21 countries and other territories in the world. It serves children and young people to meet their needs.
  • It works on giving a fair chance to children- for them to be educated, healthy, and protected.
  • UNICEF focused on child-focused programs that work comprehensively to support children affected by humanitarian & related crises.
  • The organization also works per the SDGs or the sustainable development goals.

  • The vaccination programs include the diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DTP 3) or the Penta vaccine for diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib).
  • It works for effective, qualitative, essential medicines and vaccines for all children.

Learning

UNICEF ensures proper learning and quality education for all children. It targets children to enroll in pre-primary, primary, and secondary education. 

Protecting

UNICEF ensures protection and provides safety to children. It includes targeting an end to abuse, violence, torture against children, and trafficking.

  • UNICEF helps children to get a voice and participate in related issues. The younger minds will be able to engage, connect and empower in the world.
  • This participation includes responsiveness, inclusiveness, and participation.
