August 15, 1947, is then etched in India’s glorious past for all time. On this day, 200 years of British dominance over India ended. So many outstanding warriors and freedom fighters died during the complex and protracted struggle for our beloved motherland.

Every year on August 15, India celebrates its Independence Day. This year, the auspicious day is being observed as “75 Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav 2022” to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence. Independence Day is a national holiday in India, previously known as Red Letter Day.

Independence Day in 2022 reminds the sacrifices made by political dissidents to free India from British control. History

India gained independence on August 15, 1947. India became liberated from the British Raj after a long battle. On this day, at midnight, our nation’s first prime minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, unfurled the national flag at the Red Fort for the first time. It effectively ended the British Empire’s 200-year rule over India. We now live in a free and independent nation. On this particular day, the Indian people honor the selfless efforts and unrivaled achievements of great men and women who helped India achieve independence.

Why is Indian Independence Day celebrated?

India attained independence after a 200-year struggle. India gained complete independence from the British. As a result, every Indian citizen, whether in India or elsewhere, values this day. India will celebrate its 75th anniversary of independence on August 15, 2022, with the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. This day also commemorates the victories of freedom fighters and the victims who gave their lives for the cause of independence.

The struggle endured by our freedom fighters demonstrates that hundreds of lives are sacrificed to achieve the freedom we now take for granted. It causes each Indian to feel.

Importance of Independence Day

Independence Day is a historic occasion that benefits the nation because India became liberated from British dominance on this day. It brings together a diverse group of people from across the country. India’s primary path and strength is its diversity within its unity. India is a democracy and the world’s largest majority-rule country.

Every Indian citizen should pause to commemorate Independence Day. It is a constant reminder of the brave freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to end British rule in our motherland. It serves as a reminder of the great role models who laid the groundwork for a complimentary India.

Activities on Independence Day

  • People across the country are ecstatic on Independence Day. There were meetings, the tricolor flag was raised, and the National Anthem was now played. Everyone is very excited. This day is with great pomp and circumstance in the nation’s capital, Delhi. All leaders and commoners gather in large numbers on the parade ground in front of the Red Fort to await the arrival of the Prime Minister.
  • The liberation fighters who died during the conflict become remembered. Then, the national anthem of India, “Jana Gana Mana,” seems to sing. Following the address, the Indian Army and paramilitary troops parade. At ceremonies held in all state capitals along similar lines, the Chief Minister of each state raises the national flag.
  • All public and private institutions, including schools and colleges, celebrate Independence Day with great pomp and circumstance. Students march in parades and sing the national anthem before raising the flag. Some historic structures have been specially decorated with lights that symbolize freedom. On this day, special initiatives such as tree planting had carried out. The brains of today’s youth had filled with nationalism and patriotism. Sports and art competitions take place to commemorate the occasion, and the winners are rewarded. Everyone gets a sweet treat. Everywhere you turn, you can hear patriotic music.
  • Another intriguing aspect of the festival is the kite-flying competition, held nationwide with great zeal. On this particular day, kites of all colors, shapes, and sizes fill the sky.
  • Even radio and television programs have a patriotic tone. The channels air patriotic films and documentaries to educate the public and children about various episodes of our struggle for freedom and to foster a love for our motherland. Every major national newspaper also publishes special editions with motivational stories and passages from the lives of great men taken from their best biographies.
