About Dalhousie

Dalhousie, or the Mini Switzerland of India, is a scenic place everyone wants to visit at least once in their lifetime. It is located in Chamba and is a plateau in the shape of a saucer, covered by deodar forests and dense pine trees. #1 Dainkund

Dainkund is located at an altitude of approximately 2755 m and is the highest peak in the region. Its mesmerizing beauty and tranquillity are what attract tourists. People call it the “Singing Hill” as the winds flow through the woods and produce a melodious sound. One of the must-visit tourist places in Dalhousie, this one is also known for its religious sites. Dainkund has a Pholani Devi (incarnation of Maa Devi) temple, and there’s a story behind it. According to the legends, Dainkund was the home of a witch earlier, and Pholani Devi killed her. She rose from the stone placed right at the temple’s location.

#2 Satdhara Falls

Satdhara Falls are located as you move towards Panch Pula. This waterfall is located at an altitude of 2,036 m and is a perfect place to take pictures and relax the entire day. It is formed by the merger of seven springs; thus, the name is “Satdhara”. According to the reports, these falls have a high content of mica (known for medicinal properties), and that’s why several tourists shower under them. You can explore these falls by trekking and enjoy the refreshing petrichor during the monsoon season. #3 Panch Pula

Panch Pula is located near Satdhara Falls and is an amalgamation of five bridges. It is one of the renowned tourist places in Dalhousie and is well-known for the beautiful waterfall experience. Subhash Baoli is named in honor of Subash Chandra Bose Ji and is only 1 km from the mainland of Dalhousie. Subash Chandra Bose visited this place in 1937 while recovering from an illness. He stayed and drank the spring water every day. According to him, the healing properties of the spring helped him recover quickly. Snow-capped mountains and pine trees occupy the place. It can be a perfect spot for whether you want to enjoy a picnic, meditate, or talk a blissful walk.

#5 Kalatop Wildlife Reserve

Kalatop Reserve is located right in the center of Dalhousie and Chamba. It is one of Dalhousie’s most popular tourist attractions and gives you a unique experience. The wildlife reserve is spread across a land of 3,069 acres and is at an altitude of 1,185 to 2,768 m. It is home to around 15 villages and is covered with deodar forests. Bara Pathar, Dain Kund, Kalatop, Lakarmandi, and Khajjar irrigate this wildlife sanctuary. You can enjoy a jungle safari here with your friends and family and might spot jackals, leopards, deer, langur, barking goral, and bears, among other animals.

If you love to hike, then Moti Tibba is your place. It is covered with deodar, fir, oak, pine, and rhododendron. This hilltop is one of the most popular tourist places in Dalhousie and is ideal for nature and photography lovers.
