Ahmednagar is a city in the western part of Maharashtra and is famous for its rich cultural heritage and historical monuments. #1 Ahmednagar Fort

Ahmednagar Fort is located in the city of Ahmednagar, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is one of the best tourist places in Ahmednagar. Malik Ahmad, the founder of the Nizam Shahi dynasty, built the fort in 1490 CE. The fort spreads over an area of 2.5 km and surrounds by a moat. The fort has 22 bastions, of which 18 are circular, and 4 are rectangular. It has three main gates, Delhi Darwaza, Lahori Darwaza, and Chandan Darwaza, each of which has 4-5 cannons for guarding. Inside the fort, there is an art gallery, a temple, a mosque, and a granary. The fort also houses a museum with artifacts related to the history of Ahmednagar. The fort also served as a prison during the British Raj. In 1803, the British East India Company seized the fort and used it as a residence for their officers. The fort was later handed over to the Nizam Shahi dynasty, who ruled Ahmednagar until 1853. The fort is now maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India and is open to the public.

#2 Gangapur Dam

Gangapur Dam is an earth fill and gravity dam on the Godavari River near Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, India. It is in the western part of the state and is one of the largest dams in the region. The dam has a capacity of 4.8 million cubic meters and built-in 1954. It provides irrigation to over 5,000 hectares of farmland in the region. The dam also supplies drinking water to Ahmednagar and the surrounding areas. The area around the dam is also home to a variety of birds, reptiles, and mammals.

#3 Meherabad

Meherabad is a hilltop village in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, India. It is the site of the Meher Pilgrim Retreat Center, a pilgrimage destination for followers of the Indian spiritual master Meher Baba. The village is near Ahmednagar, about 125 km northeast of Pune.

Meherabad is famous as the site of Meher Baba’s Samadhi, a mausoleum where inter of Baba’s body took place in 1969. The Samadhi is at the top of a hill and is a popular pilgrimage destination for Meher Baba’s followers. Meherabad also has a number of other sites related to Baba’s life, including the Meher Pilgrim Retreat Center, the Meherabad House, and the Meher Pilgrim Home.

#4 Shirdi

Shirdi is a small town in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, India. It is famous as the home of the late 19th-century saint Shirdi Sai Baba. It is approximately 296 km from Mumbai and is one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in India. Every year millions of devotees visit the temple of Shirdi Sai Baba to pay their respects.

The Sai Baba temple, built in 1922 dedicated to Sai Baba. The temple houses various idols of Sai Baba and inscriptions of his teachings on the temple’s walls. Visitors can also visit the nearby Dwarkamai, a historic mosque where Sai Baba used to meditate.

Other attractions of Shirdi include the Gurusthan, where Sai Baba used to meditate, and the Chavadi, where he held his public discourses. There is also the Maruti Temple, dedicated to the Hindu god Hanuman. Shirdi also houses many small shrines and temples dedicated to Hindu gods and goddesses. The best time to visit Shirdi is from October to March.

#5 Rahuri

Rauri is a village located in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, India. It is on the banks of river Sina in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. It is the birthplace of Sant Tukaram, one of the most revered saints of Maharashtra. The town is popular for its ancient temples and is a pilgrimage site. It is popular that the name of the town is after Sant Tukaram, and his birthplace is Sant Tukaram Nagar.

Rauri has a rich cultural heritage and is popular for its traditional art forms. The town is also known for its various festivals, such as Ganesh Chaturthi, Dussehra, Diwali, and Navratri. It is also known for its traditional fairs, which celebrates with great enthusiasm by the locals.
