The Akshardham Temple is in Gandhinagar, the capital city of Gujarat. The people regard it as one of Gujarat and India’s most important Hindu temples. They adore the most important deity within the temple, Bhagwan Swaminarayan. Along with visiting the temple’s interior to view the idols, visitors can also find exhibitions, research centers, and architectural structures strewn throughout the 23 acres of the property.

#2 Somnath Temple, Somnath

The Somnath Temple, regarded as one of Gujarat’s most beautiful temples and one of Lord Shiva’s 12 Jyotirlingas, is a well-known Hindu temple that dates back to ancient times. According to legend, the Moon God erected the temple in gold, Ravana in silver, Lord Krishna in wood, and King Bhimdev finally in stone. In 1024 AD, Mahmud of Ghazni destroyed the shrine and looted its treasures. The temple also goes by Deo Pattan, Prabhas Pattan, and Somnath Pattan. The Chalukya style inspired the seven-story tower of the temple, which has beautiful surroundings due to its original location by the sea. Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel supervised its construction in 1950, and the Shree Somnath Trust currently administers it.

#3 Dwarkadhish Temple, Dwarka

The Dwarkadhish temple, also known as Jagat Mandir or Trilok Sundar Mandir, is part of Hinduism’s famed Chardham yatra. Lord Dwarkadhish represents Lord Krishna, and devotees worship him at the temple, which is almost 2500 years old. People from all over the world visit the majestic sandstone temple, which has five stories, 60 columns, and exquisite sculptures. The temple stands at the confluence of the Gomati River and the Arabian Sea.

The Dwarkadhish temple, one of the Sapta Puris in Hinduism, is a place Beyt Dwarka often goes to. The shrine is also Lord Vishnu’s 108th Divya Desam. A flag with a sun and a moon adorns the top of the temple, and it is changed thrice a day. The current temple tower dates back to the 15th and 16th centuries.

#4 Sun Temple, Modhera

King Bhimdev I of the Solanki dynasty founded the Sun Temple in the 11th century. The temple stands on a hillock in Modhera, approximately 106 kilometers northwest of Ahmedabad, and people consider it one of Gujarat’s most beautiful Hindu temples. The temple’s design ensures that the sun shines on the image of the Surya chakra from sunrise to sunset. Pillars in the main hall and shrine feature detailed carvings of gods and demons.

This temple complex has three sections: Surya Kund, Sabha Mandap, and Guda Mandap. The Pushpawati River flows beside the temple. It is one of India’s few Sun temples. Its interior hall contains 12 niches that represent God’s monthly manifestations. Lord Vishnu, Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, and Sitala Mata have their temples in the complex. Do not miss out on seeing these stepwells in Modhera’s Sun Temple.

#5 Rukmini Temple, Dwarka

Rukmini Devi Temple is a modest temple dedicated to Goddess Rukmini, Lord Krishna’s spouse. It is well-known for its gorgeous carvings and two magnificently sculpted panels. Naratharas, or human sculptures, appear on one panel, while Gajatharas, or elephants, appear on the other. The temple’s inner sanctuary houses the goddesses and the Lord’s idols. Beautiful artwork representing various events involving Goddess Rukmini and the Lord adorns the walls of the Rukmini temple, which historians believe was constructed in the 12th century. It is around 1.5 kilometers north of town.
