Traditionally, a definition of “Family” depends on the number of members that live together as a family unit. Today, a small or nuclear family like mine consists of one or two children and their parents, father, and mother. A joint family consists of children, and their parents live with grandparents. Also, in some cases, families of a paternal uncle and paternal aunt live together in joint families. In the present scenario, the families of the paternal uncle or aunt or members of the maternal families are considered part of the extended families. Some even chose their close friends, acquaintances, and loved ones as chosen families. Though in Indian society, we know that people have blood relations or bonds with each other, some people have family members outside of blood linkages and consider them part of the families.

Essay on My Family

We often spend time from when we are born to when we grow up and gain adulthood with our families. My family has had a significant impact on my upbringing. My character, personality, and build-up depend on my family and surroundings. A good family bonding creates an atmosphere that has a good impact on one’s life. While some also go through toxic or traumatic experiences with families that hurt one’s life. The factors of such a family include dominance, inattentiveness, passive-aggressive behavior, negative behavior patterns, etc. These have a life-long impact on one’s life and should be recognized and healed.

There are different elements of my family unit. They are procreation, economic bond, upbringing, intimate and emotional intimacy, emotional base, responsibility, number of people living, etc. Moreover, social strata, traditions, and values come from generation to generation in families. These elements bind my family into one and help to relive its essence for future generations. My family is also like a safety net I can always lean on in joyful times and sorrow. It stands as a solid rock with me during tough times. It guides me and motivates me. It shows me the mirror of who I am. It encourages me to become a better human being. It helps me become a version of myself and be proud of myself.

Habits create a lifestyle, and a family plays a vital part in shaping them. My family determines the ways I grow and develop my intellect. These include food habits, sleep habits, personality, ethics, religious habits, etc. Nowadays, pets have also become an essential part of families that teach us the importance of unconditional love.

I am lucky to be surrounded by my family members. I have someone that takes care of me in a small yet impactful way. In my family, siblings also share a fun bond and banter. The roots I got from my childhood from my family have helped me leave a very authentic mark on society. The bond between the family members is above all the barriers like richness, poverty, status, fame, fortune, disabilities, etc. The members can have disagreements but can’t help without caring for each other.

The kind of family that one gets depends on destiny. Some even don’t have families of their own. While some stray away from their own families. All these dynamics are a part of the family structure in society. Whatever decision one makes, one should not forget to love their loved ones and their chosen ones while they are here. This article, Essay on my Family, gives you the final thoughts that family is an essential factor in society that takes the legacy of human evolution forward.
