Introduction to Architecture Design Types

Architecture design types can understand the pattern of the structure of that any design because we have a different type of design in architecture and these structure of architectural design represents a lot of thing for expressing itself. These things may be of the time period in which they design or their culture and community with which it belongs, materials used for making that design and many more thing can involve in defining the type of Architecture design. We can find a list of types of Architecture design and today in this article we will discuss its type from ancient times to the modern period. Architectural Design Types

Types of architectural designs are the result of changing times since our history. During this period some styles got improvement in them and some merged with others so let us see what the sequences of these types were.

The first type of architecture design which we discuss is Classic.

Classic:

This type of architecture design is used for construction at the time of Ancient Greece between the time period of 7th and 4th century BC. It was famous for designing religious buildings such as temples and stones were used as basic material at that time. The most important thing about this type was there was an important place of geometry, symmetry, as well as perspective in this design. In the 5th century, Parthenon was built in the Acropolis of Athens which is the greatest work of these types of architecture design.

Now move to the next type of architecture design which is Gothic and get knowledge about it.

Gothic:

Gothic is a French word which is ‘Opus Francigenum’ that means ‘French work’ and it came in French in the late Middle Ages which was the time period of 900 to 1300. At that time Gothic architecture design gave a sense of majestic architecture so it is generally used for the construction of Cathedrals and Churches. You can understand it as a unique design type of that time because Notre Dame Cathedral and Reims Cathedral which are based on this architectural design are now considered as UNESCO world heritage sites.

The next architecture design type is Romanesque.

Romanesque:

You can find this type of architecture design in Europe between the 6th to 9th centuries which conveys its relation with its historical aspects clearly. This design was the result of the requirement of protection of countrymen during the war period of a European country and it was designed in this way so that there was minimum openings for entry and heavy as well as restive walls were there. If you want to see an example of this type then you can go through Santiago de Compostela Cathedral in Spain which is the best example of it.

Let us now move to another type of architectural design which is Baroque. So let us find what is special in this design.

Baroque:

This was introduced in the early 16th century in the Monarchist community in Europe. You can find decorative work in this type of architecture and also has good contrast between light and dark. If you talk about an example of this type then we can definitely go to the Church of Gesu in Rome.

Next, the architecture design type of our list is Neoclassical. So let us have a look at it.

Neoclassical:

Neoclassical architecture design shows the mixed structure of Classical Greek and Roman Buildings which take them once again in use. The purpose of this architecture clearly explains the social and economic thoughts of that time. The combination of these two types come in the contact of this type because of traveling of students around the world and got a touch in ancient works. The revival of European culture got speed with this type of architecture and spread in various countries until the 19th century began.

Let us find what is next in our list. Beaux-Arts is next in our list.

Beaux-Arts:

It was introduced in the mid of the 1830s in the School of Fine Arts in Paris. You will also find some other periods type in it such as Neoclassicism touch, Gothic touch and one more which is Renaissance and it used some materials in its design such as glass and iron. Although it is established in France you can see its impact on the architectural design of America. You can see great work of it in the form of Grand Palais in Paris and the Grand Central Terminal in the New York City of United States.

Let us now analyze the next type of architectural design type which is Art Nouveau.

Art Nouveau:

This type of work a guide for a different type of art-oriented work such as painting, furniture designing, and some others. You can see a number of organic shapes in this design and the idea of those organic shapes comes from nature’s elements such as plants, trees, animals, etc. The first design of this type was designed by Victor Horta who was an architect of Belgian.

Moving to our next type of architecture dosing we will find Art Deco in our list.

Art Deco:

It also came into existence at some time in Art Nouveau and the time was right before World war 1st. It leaves its impact on almost all areas of art and design. There were luxurious materials in design, rather than luxurious material you can also see handcraft components in it. It has a full impact on the technological progress of that time on it. The first design of this type was Art Deco Structure which was designed by renouncing reinforced concrete model designer Auguste Perret.
