About Aasif Sheikh

Aasif Sheikh is an Indian actor. He is best known for his roles as Vibhuti Narayan Mishra in the Indian sitcom Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! and as Ranjeet Srivastav in the Indian television drama Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. He began his career in 1984 with a recurring role in the television series Wagle Ki Duniya. He has also acted in several films, such as Raja Babu (1994) and Coolie No. 1 (1995). He has received several awards for his performances, including three Indian Telly Awards and two Indian Television Academy Awards.

Early Life

Aasif Sheikh was born in 1964 in New Delhi, India. He is an Indian television and film actor, best known for his portrayal of Vibhuti Narayan Mishra in the popular comedy television series Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain. He completed his schooling at St. Anthony’s School. After completing his studies, Aasif Sheikh moved to Mumbai in 1981 to pursue an acting career. He made his debut with the television serial ‘Hum Log’ in 1984 and followed it up by acting in various television serials such as Chandrakanta, Yug, champion, tanha, Adhure Armaan, yes boss, Rishtey – the love stories, Muskaan, Hassi who Phassi, CID, Dill Mill Gayye, Chidiya Ghar, tum Saath ho jab Apne and ‘Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain’.

He has also acted in various films such as Apradhi, Qayamat ki raat, Haque, duniya jhukti hai, karan arjun, the don, agni prem, banarasi babu, pardesi babu, deewane, maine dil tujhko diya, shaadi karke phas gaya yaar, bharat and kisi ka bhai kisi ki jaan. Aasif Sheikh has won several awards for his contribution to Indian television, including the Indian Television Academy Awards and the Indian Telly Awards. In 1989, He married Zeba Sheikh and had two children out of which one is a daughter named Nastasia and the other is a son named Alyjah.

Career

He began his career in the 1980s and is best known for his role as Vibhuti Narayan Mishra in the popular sitcom Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! He has also appeared in a number of films including Duniya Jhukti hai, Karan Arjun, the don, Agni prem, Banarasi babu, Pardesi babu, and Deewane. He is also well-known for his roles in the web series named yeh kaali kaali Ankhein where he did a special appearance and played his own role and also in a series named Aat ya Paar where he acted in the role of Wasim Bhai.

Television Shows

Aasif Sheikh has appeared in many television shows, most notably as Vibhuti Narayan Mishra in the sitcom Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai! and as Balvinder Mallik in Dill Mill Gayye.

  • Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai!: Aasif Sheikh plays the role of Vibhuti Narayan Mishra, a middle-class man living in Kanpur, married to Anita Mishra. He is a lazy man who is always looking for shortcuts to make money.
  • Don’t Worry Chachu: It was a light-hearted comedy serial in which Aasif played the main lead role character of Col. U. R. Sethi.
  • Yeh Chanda Kanoon Hai: This serial released in 2010, he acted again as the lead role of Vibhuti Narayan.
  • Hassi Phassi: This television serial came into popularity and came to the market in 2003 where Aasif played the main lead role character of the dentist.
  • Hum Log: This was the first serial released in 1984 where Aasif came with his debut and played the side character role of Prince Ajay Singh.

Awards

Aasif Sheikh got an award for the best actor in Comedy by the ITA Award in 2016 for the television show named “Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain”. In 2002, he got into nomination for his negative role in the television serial named Mehndi Tere Naam Ki at Indian Telly Awards. In 2015, he was again nominated for the Indian Telly awards for the best actor in a comedy for the serial “Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain”.

In 2017, he got nominated as the best actor on television by Niclodeon’s Kids Choice Awards. In 2018, he received the ITA Awards for best actor comedy for the same serial. In 2021. He won the award for Best Actor Male in Fiction at Gold Comedy Awards for the same serial. He again got nominated as Best actor comedy by ITA awards for the same serial.
