What is JMeter?
We learned about the purpose of JMeter and its basic features in the introduction section above. Here, we shall focus on some specific advantages of JMeter and know why it is important to learn this technology. We saw above that we can use JMeter to analyze software code and measure the performance of various code units of web applications or services. Performance Testing means testing a web application against a situation such as heavy load, a high volume of multiple and concurrent traffic generated by user sessions, etc. JMeter was originally used as a framework for testing Web Application or FTP applications. Later it moved on for doing functional testing and database server test as well and currently, these tasks are done predominantly.

- It has an open-source license meaning JMeter is completely free and thus allows developers to use its source code for the development activities.
