#1 The Shard

The Shard is the tallest building in the European Union, located on London Bridge. The Shard has 72 floors and was designed by Renzo Piano, who also designed New York City’s Supertall skyscraper, One World Trade Center. It opened its doors to visitors on March 27th, 2012, after three years of construction.

#2 Covent Garden

Covent Garden is a major shopping and entertainment district in London, England. It is located in the City of Westminster, between St Paul’s Cathedral and Trafalgar Square at the east end of Leicester Square.

The area was formerly part of the medieval parish of St Peter ad Vincula. Still, it became part of the Liberty of Westminster in 1555 when Henry VIII founded his Palace of Whitehall nearby (now The Mall).

This remained an open space until 1695, when it was enclosed by houses for use as a marketplace. The area is known for its fruit, vegetable, and flower markets which take place in what was once known as Piazza del Popolo (now called Piazza di Covent Garden).

Leicester Square is a home square in the West End. It is home to several theatres and cinemas, as well as Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, which was opened by Queen Victoria in 1885 and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in London.

The square has been featured in many films and TV shows, including Charlie Chaplin’s The Great Dictator (1940) and Gone with the Wind (1939).

#4 Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace is the authorized London quarters of the British majesty. It was built between 1703 and 1812 in the neo-classical style by William Kent, who also designed The Houses of Parliament. The palace has been home to over ten kings and queens since it was first occupied by George IV in 1820.

#5 Tower of London

The Tower of London is a museum that boards many interesting artifacts. It was built by William the Conqueror, who also built other famous castles like Dover Castle and Rochester Castle. Today, it’s a place where people can learn about history and see some of England’s most famous relics in one place.

The Tower features seven towers: White Tower (the oldest), Round Tower (the tallest), Traitors’ Gatehouse, Bloody Tower (where heads were displayed), Jewel House Museum; Kettles Yard; Pardoners’ Court side entrance; and Palace Green side entrance.

#6 The British Museum

The British Museum

The British Museum is a gallery of mortal records and civilization in London. Its collection, which is one of the largest and most comprehensive in the world, emanates from all continents, illuminating and recording the history of human civilization from its inception to the present.

The museum was established in 1753 on Montagu Place (near Leicester Square) by an Act of Parliament which led to its move to Bloomsbury in 1823, where it remained until 1973 when it moved back into its current building near Waterloo station.

#7 Borough Market, London Bridge

 

Borough Market is a food market in Southwark, London Borough of Southwark, England. It was opened on 31 December 1864 by the City of London Corporation as The London Produce Markets (also known as ‘The Pig Market’) and has been run by them since then.

It is one of the oldest markets in London and is still very popular today, with thousands visiting every day to buy fresh produce from local growers or to sample some mouthwatering food stalls!

Borough Market operates daily except Tuesdays (till 5 pm) and Thursdays (4 pm). There are also some special events held here, such as street cooking demonstrations where you can watch chefs preparing delicious dishes whilst sampling different foods at the same time!

#8 Regent’s Park and London Zoo

Regent’s Park is one of the most beautiful places to visit in London. It’s home to the world’s oldest scientific zoo and full of pretty gardens and animal exhibits. The park includes several historic buildings that are open for visitors, including London Zoo itself—the world’s oldest scientific zoo!
