Bhai Dooj, also known as Bhai Tika or Yamadwitiya, is a festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. It is the last day of the five-day Diwali festival, marked by rituals that strengthen familial ties.

Bhai Dooj is rooted in Hindu mythology and is associated with the story of Lord Yama and his sister Yamuna. According to legend, Yamuna welcomed her brother Yama with a tilak (vermilion mark) and aarti (ritualistic prayer) after he visited her. The custom symbolizes the bond between siblings and the importance of protecting and honoring each other.

On Bhai Dooj, sisters do a special prayer called aarti for their brothers and put tilak on their foreheads. In return, brothers give gifts and express their love and protection for their sisters. The way people celebrate this festival might be a bit different in different places, but the main meaning and purpose of the celebration stays the same.

However, with the migration of people, the festival is now celebrated in various parts of the country.

Chhath Puja spans four days and involves various rituals such as holy bathing, fasting, and offering arghya (water and prayers) to the rising and setting sun. Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrates the life and teachings of Guru Nanak, who emphasized the oneness of God, equality, and social justice. It is a time for Sikhs to reflect on his teachings and strive to live by the principles of compassion, humility, and selfless service.
