    Microsoft Sway 2016 Training:

PowerPoint presentations are passe ( outdated ), this is a very common statement today. The reason for the same is Microsoft Sway / Office Sway is a presentation program available in 39 languages and is an integral part of the Microsoft Office family of products. Generally released by Microsoft in August 2015, Sway allows users who have a Microsoft account to combine text and media to create a presentable website. Users can pull content locally / import ( Word, PowerPoint presentation, Adobe Acrobat file - PDF ) from the device in use, or from internet sources such as Bing, Facebook, OneDrive, and YouTube.

Sways are stored on Microsoft's servers and are tied to the user's Microsoft account . They can be viewed and edited from any web browser with a web app available in Office Online. They can also be accessed using apps for Windows10 and iOS.

In this module we have imported a PowerPoint presentation and played an initial / raw version on Microsoft Sway. Subsequently we run the learner through the various features available to make the Sway presentation look amazing. At the centre is the Storyline board which is the canvas available for adding / editing. On the ribbon / horizontal line we have the following tabs on the left hand side of the Storyline board namely Cards , Design, Navigation and Remix. We also have the Insert tab which provided suggested information. In the Cards tab we have used the text option for highlighting important information and the media option to add pictures, videos, tweets and embedded information (url links to be checked for all pictures, videos and tweets). We have also used the grouping option to organise the storyline into logical subsets. In the Design tab we have used the colour combinations to be in sync with the storyline. In the Navigation tab we have used the various horizontal and vertical options to improve impact. Before using the Remix option we create a Duplicate Sway as we have numerous permutations in Sway. Since Sway saves automatically the base presentation should always be available and hence we have created a duplicate one for reference purposes. We move on with the options on the right hand side of the Storyline board namely play to check the final output and then the various ways to share your Sway.

It can be shared among professional working on a similar subject using the Authors tab , to enable sharing of content with embedded Skype for video conferencing. It can also be shared on docs.com with an individual login created specifically to let the world ( other Sway users ) know about your storyline. You can also share content on Facebook, Twitter and by Blog. We conclude the session by mentioning when it is advisable to use Sway mentioning the various users and uses of Sway and why it is the future of presentations.
