What is Google AdWords?

Now known as Google Ads for search, it is an online advertising platform. here, you can pay Google some amount of money to show your ads on Websites, Google Search Results, YouTube and inside some apps using keywords. How does it Work?

In a nutshell, it works on a bidding basis. These bids are done on keywords. Meaning, if you want your ad to appear when someone searches for “Buy Laptops” you will bid some amount and it will be compared to other advertiser’s bids. If your bid is the most relevant in the competition, your ad will be shown. When the user clicks on your ad, he will be taken to your website and you will be charged. Now, just to be clear, when deciding what ad to show to a visitor, Google also looks at ad relevancy, user preferences, location, and some other factors, but typically, Bid Amount is a big factor.

Uses of Google AdWords

Google AdWords is one of the popular Digital Marketing tools. As the need and budget of Online Advertising are increasing, AdWords is turning out to be more and more useful for marketers to find and reach out to correct customers. Following are some uses of Google AdWords:

  • Showing Ads on Google Search Results: Google AdWords Ads show up when someone searches for services or products relating to your ad.
  • Displaying Ads on YouTube and other Google Services.
  • Google AdWords can be used to show Ads inside the Android app that uses the AdMob service.
  • Publishers that use Google Adsense, DoubleClick, etc. are called Google Ad Network sites and AdWords ads can also be shown on these sites. The placement of ads on the third-party site depends on the keywords of the site or article.
  • Create Shopping ads that show up on Google Search Results among other products when someone searches. For example, your Monitor will be shown on

2) AdWords is cheaper

It is cheaper than many advertising options because AdWords uses bidding and only charges when someone clicks on your ad, it becomes a much more cost-effective way of promoting your business online. Aside from being cheaper, you can use almost any budget for the campaign and start and stop it at any time you want, this results in increased ease of use for small online businesses.

3) Remarket with Google AdWords

Remarketing is a way to show ads to people who have visited your website but did not complete the purchase. Google AdWords has robust features to target your ads to these users. You will find that remarketing is a very effective targeting tactic for many businesses.

4) The Targeting is Powerful

Google is the king of data and analytics when it comes to the internet. It has almost all targeting features you may think of. You can target using languages, devices, time and audience interests. Similarly, you can exclude a specific kind of audience easily if you need to.

5) High Relevancy

As I discussed a few paragraphs ago, Google simply does not show ads that bid the highest, instead, Google shows ads that are most relevant to the user. This results in your products being found by people who are most likely to be interested in your product.

How can Google AdWords help in your career growth?

Paid Advertising is one of the most effective ways of promoting products and increasing sales. On the internet, Google AdWords is the default way of promoting your products and services on search engines. Considering this, I am sure you can guess that PPC has a big impact on the careers of the digital marketer.

Google AdWords is a very important skill for digital marketers these days and once you have the knowledge of how PPC advertising works and how to make and run ads in Google AdWords, you can make a career as PPC Expert, AdWords expert, Digital Marketing Manager or Digital Marketing Consultant.
